I've decided to start an occasional diary to let you know what I'm up to. I've just returned from a walk into the village to visit our mobile post office van with all the packages of hops and lavender that you've been ordering. (thank you James Wong). I hadn't realised I was dealing with a bunch of insomniacs! I hope you've all been enjoying the BBC2 series 'Grow Your Own Drugs' (Monday nights at 8.30pm). If you've missed the first two episodes you can still see them on BBC iPlayer. You'll find links to the accompanying recipes on the Purple Sage Home Page.

The sun was out today, and the West Heslerton wild pharmacy is bursting into bloom. As well as carpets of snowdrops and aconite I noticed sweet violet (Viola odorata) and lesser celandine (Ranunculus ficaria) in the woods. The hawthorn (Crataegus oxyacantha) and Elder (Sambucus nigra) is in bud. Must spend some time in the garden soon.
